Hi Stephen,
When I click "Check for Updates" a small pop-up window titled "Update System Manager" appears with the following message "Your system is currently running the latest firmware. Your system does not need a firmware update". And it's rather odd that I was not receiving this message a few hours ago when the NAS was initially connected & setup out of the box. So from here I decided to check https://readycloud.netgear.com website again, followed by clicking on "Discover" and to my bewilderment  has now started working, with "Manage" now displayed. To double check WAN connectivity, I was able to successfully download "Anti-Virus Plus" from the "Apps" section of the web interface.
I did however have the NAS shutdown overnight while I was asleep. Perhaps a cold boot rather than a warm boot did the trick?
So in conclusion, I'm really not 100% sure why it has suddenly started to work, but nevertheless all is now well and thanks for the contributions made by our community members. :)
Regards,
James.
