ReadyNas 104 slow transfer
Hi there, I have a ReadyNas 104 set to RAID 1 with 2 3TB Seagate Barracuda drives. My issue is chronic transfer speeds. I have my NAS connected direct via Ethernet to my Virgin Superhub 3, a...

To elaborate further the router is downstairs, the 4 ports are connected via ethernet to my NAS, my PS4, my media player (I have tried both my Western Digital Live TV hub and my Raspberry Pi). The 4th port goes in to a 200MB TP link which connects to my PC upstairs. When transferring from my PC to either my Media player or NAS I transfer at speeds of around 4MB (which is rubbish I know), though it does seem to deteriate in speed slightly as the file copies.
The media player and NAS are added as network drives on my Windows 7 PC and use Windows to drag and drop files. When I transfer a file from the NAS to my PC it records similar speeds of around 3.5MB but when transferring to the media player this can drop to under 2MB. I am not the most savy when it comes to networking so would really appreciate any help.
I am running 6.2.2 firmware on the NAS and have messed about with the settings to no avail.

Is it practical to move the PC downstairs so it can run over normal ethernet (as a test). Then we could see the NAS performance to a device with a faster CPU than the Pi..
If not, then perhaps move the RN104 upstairs temporarily, and directly connect it to the PC. Then measure the speed.
The procedure is sketched out here: http://kb.netgear.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21414/~/how-do-i-direct-connect-between-readynas-and-pc%2Fmac%3F
You'll need to temporarily set static IP address on the PC (for instance 192.168.168.100 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0 and a gateway of 192.168.168.1). You'll access the NAS by IP address (which should be 192.168.168.168).
NasTester ( http://www.808.dk/?code-csharp-nas-performance ) is a good test tool.
