ReadyNAS 104 Slow file transfer and access

For the last 2 days I'm having problems with my READYNAS 104  v6.10.10 which has 4 x 2Tb drives in.

I cannot access the admin page via 192.168.1.2 which sticks at the splash screen. I can see all the folders as shared folders in Windows and can copy files to and from but it is so painfully slow as to be unusable taking 20 minutes for a 2Gb file.

Radarr says the Status is healthy, confirms the IP address as 192.168.1.2 and has green ticks next to all drives. Using Browse in Radarr shows the folders, but opening one is again very slow with the green bar slowly moving over the screen. When the folder is eventually open it is possible to play a media file in Windows though it does occasionally stop and then restart. Trying to play media using Kodi over my home network  fails and times out

I have shut down and rebooted twice which has made no difference.

Any suggestions as to how to cure the problem? I'm aware that the 104 has memory limitations so wonder if it is possible to transfer the drives with their media into another router and if so which one.

Thanks for any help.

  • My apologies for posting in the wrong group and thanks for moving it. I has assumed it came under legacy routers as it is no longer supported.

I have tried suggested tips but am restricted as I am unable to access the Admin page or download logs. If necessary I'm prepared to buy another router if I can transfer the  4 disks and not lose the media.

Do you mean buy another NAS???

I am thinking that you have no backup for the data - is that correct?

Have you tried downloading the logs from RAIDar?

Yes, slip of the fingers, another NAS and I have no backup for the approx 7Tb of data on the 4 discs so was wondering if there is another Netgear NAS that  is compatible that I could just put the disks into and they would work. I did try to copy some of the files using Windows but the transfer rate is so slow  it would be impossible to backup any useful amount.

I've tried downloading logs via Radarr but it says "not a valid username and password even though it is the correct one.I used for the Admin page in the past The same thing happens if I try Diagnostics in Radarr
