Readynas 104 unable to backup user profiles from network
I have setup a few backup jobs in the software , 1 works that backs up a whole drive which has various folders on it but no operating system.
Have setup another job for 2 different users on 2 different machines , staying logged out of the said machines whilst backing up, it finds the users folder fine and goes through the process seems to copy all data over but it fails to complete either backup , surely these devices will allow you to backup user profiles from network machines
Can anyone give me any pointers on how to do this simple task.
Been working with computers for over 20 years and don't think I've come across such a crappy piece of software for such a good looking device.
I have resorted to fastcopy11 in the interim while trying to get auto backups to work.
thanks in advance

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserWhat errors are you seeing?
- BrucewhiAspirantHi Stephen,
just comes up and says error reading,
Backup Start Time: Tue Mar 10 2015 22:37:57
Backup Finish Time: Tue Mar 10 2015 22:43:01
Backup Status: Fail: failure during copy.
nothing else doesn't say if it failed on a certain file or anything, surely there is better software than this to drive it.
thanks
Bruce - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserPersonally I use Acronis to back up my PCs to the NAS, and the rsync backup jobs to back up NAS itself.
Are you using SMB as the protocol? The NAS has permission to access the source folder? - BrucewhiAspirantyep has permissions set all access can access folder/s from all other pc's in the office no problems read and write full control for everyone
yes I use acronis to backup to another hard drive daily as well.
yes using smb - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAre you using PC name or IP address in the backup jobs?
- BrucewhiAspirantip's
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserCan you post the backup settings for one of these jobs?
- BrucewhiAspiranttype = remote
name = remote:Windows/NAS(Timestamp)
ip address
path = users
Login = username
password = password
destination
type = share
name = share: Backup
is this what you mean ? - StephenBGuru - Experienced Useryes.
You are logging in with an administrative account? If not, the path likely needs to be users\username. Even then there might be some folders that won't copy. - BrucewhiAspirantit seems all folders copy even down to nutser.dat's however it still fails and with this shit software there is no way that I can see to find out what is not copying
copies 62.5gb out of 62.7gb but don't know which bloody files it can't copy ... you'd think in 2015 that a backup system could copy a user profile, I presume that these things can't copy and entire C:\ drive with an operating system on it as it would still fail somewhere in the user profile.
I have a H drive in the machine with 40gb data on it and it will copy the entire drive no problems but this doesn't have an operating system on it .
Just had a bit of a study seems the ntuser.dat main file which is 22 odd mb doesn't come over .
Is there a way to not copy ntuser.dat and ntuser.log files ?
thanks
