StephenB Thanks so much for your reply.
I am not familiar with telnet, or have to access the data/nas through telnet at all. When the nas is powered on and receiving an ip adress I can't connect to 192.168.168.168.
To be able to access the Tech support mode, I need to start the Boot Menu, Which I just can't find a way to do.
See The instructions below
To access the boot menu:
1. Power off your storage system.
2. Using a straightened paper clip, press and hold the Reset button.
3. Press the Power button.
The system powers on.
4. Continue to press the Reset button until the status display screen shows a boot menu message.
5. Press the Backup button to scroll through boot mode options.
The status display screen shows the current boot mode option.
6. When the status display screen shows the boot mode that you need, press and release the Reset button
to confirm your boot menu selection.
The system boots in the selected boot mode.
The problem is that I can not use the power button to shut the Nas down. I need to pull the plug to be able to shut it down, and I need to put in the plug to be able to turn it on again, and then it will turn itself on automatically. Iv'e tried pulling the plug and using a paper clip to press and hold the SYS-button on the back while putting in the power-cord , also while pressing the reset button and power button (needed some help with that). But nothing seems to happen.
Is there anyway to connect the 4 disks to a PC and somehow be able to access the data on the disks ? Maybe on A PC running Linux or Windows with a Linux based program to recover data ? I know it might be problematic because it's a hardware raid (internal controller on the NAS) and not a software raid.

The NAS actually uses software RAID.
If you can connect the four disks to a Windows PC, you can use ReclaiMe RAID recovery software ( https://www.reclaime.com/ ). You can download first, and confirm that the software can find your data volume before purchase.
You can also try to mount the array with linux - the system will need to have btrfs installed. There is some information on that here: https://community.netgear.com/t5/Using-your-ReadyNAS-in-Business/Disk-volume-no-longer-active-force-activation/m-p/1553673#M144637

Glad to hear it is a software raid, I checked the specifications on the NAS and it said internal controller, so that's why I tought it was a hardware raid. A software raid should increase my chances of retrieving data :)
I will try connecting the disks to a computer in a week or so when I am back at work, and let you know how it turned out.
Thanks so much for your help!!
