Readynas 1100 Missing Media Shares
Hello:
I recently purchased a Readynas 3200 series with 48TB of storage.
I have a stack of older Readynas 1100 devices, and moving data to the new storage unit (incredible slow process, and the readynas 1100 often lock up so doing it in smaller chunks).
To my question, my Readynas 1100 decided to freeze up during the process of moving files. I restarted it, it did a file check, and now I have a problem.
I can now access the shares, but the devices snows NO shares under media, but it used to have "videos" as a folder (an hour ago).
However, the gui screen, shows that the device has 1TB of files (or so) on the device, so I know my videos seemingly exist.
How do I get access to the video files now that the folder is missing?
Thanks
Kevin

- vandermerweMasterTry resetting the permissions for the media share.
Are you using cifs to access the share? If so go to the share properties, advanced, then reset permissions.
Is the user that is trying to access the share listed as a user on the NAS and set to have access?
If resetting permissions doesn't help try widening access by allowing access to the media share to everyone and enabling guest access. If this works then it's probably a permissions issue.
What firmware are you running? - 557398AspirantHi Vandermewe:
There permissions on the media share (and entire device) are wide open.
I use cifs to access the share, and reset the permissions.
I am the administrator and the user, there I keep it simple for file storage.
I tried "everyone" in the sense it isn't limited. Not sure where the 'guest' access would be enabled.
It has the same configuration as other NAS1100's I have (own about 10 of them), but this one went "puke" for whatever reason.
4.1.12 is the firmware.
So in Media all the directories are missing, but on home screen and shares shows about 1TB of data stored in Media.
Thus confused how to continue to access the data so I can port it to my new 48TB Nas.
Kevin - vandermerweMasterI think you may need to ssh in to your 1100 to look for the folder and see why it is hidden. I'm not much help with ssh, but you could start by reading this:
viewtopic.php?f=28&t=69942&p=388459&hilit=Hidden+folder#p388459 - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserDid you reset the permissions using the "advanced" tab, and then clicking the "apply" button? Changing the settings on the CIFS tab doesn't result in changes for the files already in the share.
- 557398AspirantJust to confirm how do I reset in advanced tab?
- vandermerweMasterShare advanced settings.
Tickbox for reset permissions then click apply.
Takes a few seconds to a minute or so depending on the size of share.
Confirmatory message appears. - 557398AspirantI must be missing something.
I go to Frontview.
I go to Shares
I go to Share Listing
I go to Media
I go to CIFS across from Media
I go to Advanced Options within Media share
I don't see a "reset"....I must have went to the wrong menu...
Please advise - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserThe full title on the checkbox is
"Set ownership and permission for existing files and folders in this share to the above settings. This option is useful in cases where you are changing security levels and need to workaround file access problems."
This sets the folder owner, group, and rights to the values in the box above.
Then click apply on the bottom right, and the command will execute. The check in the box will immediately clear. You can wait for the pop-up to tell you it is finished, or just come back later and check the system log. - 557398AspirantOkay, was confirming, no that did not make any difference.
Media folder is "blank"
Shares on raid shows media having 1793214 MB
Share listing under advanced has meda / nogroup r/w for the 3 then I did the reset on the next, and the following blox is blank.
I'm a bit stumped, really just want to access the directory that was there before and move the files to a new nas array I recently purchased.
