It is a v2 so it could run OS6 (though unsupported). It should be fixed now.

Are these new disks? If so, what are the drive models (in particular the size).

The disks are not new and have been used in this unit for a few years. They are WD 1TB drives (Model WD1003FBYX-01Y7B0).
