ReadyNAS 214: Blinking backup light and NO access
Occassionally, my ReadyNAS 214 will disappear from my network. When I look at it, the Power light is on, the disk lights are on, and the backup light is slowly blinking (about once per second). RaidA...

I have tried holding the power button for 5 seconds. I will confirm that the next time it occurs.
Do you know what the flashing backup LED means?

No, I don't.

Thanks, StephenB.
Does anyone know what it means when the backup LED is flashing? (In particular, the unit is otherwise non-responsive.)

StephenB: how might I access the command console from SSH to look in whatever logs I might find to see what was going on?

Did you enable SSH while you still had access to the GUI? If not, there is no way to use SSH.
If you did enable it, just open a Windows command prompt and type ssh root@nas-ip-address (using the actual address). But the unit may not be to the point that SSH is active.
Tech support mode and Telnet may be a solution. Can you boot to support mode via the boot menu? RAIDar should show you if you have successfully entered support mode.

Sandshark,
I can reboot the unit by unpluggging the power and it usually works for several weeks before this (blinking backup LED, no access, no Raidar, etc) occurs. I'll make sure SSH is enabled and see if I can get to whatever logs may exist. (is there a password required?)
I'm less familiar with support mode - are there docs for that in the 6.10 manual? If not, where can I learn more?
