Have just updated to the latest firmware and will monitor for a couple of days.

There are some issues with SMB file transfers in 6.9.4. I ran into some hangs in my own NAS with 6.9.4, and downgraded to 6.9.3.
But those issues should be resolved in 6.9.5. So I'd first upgrade to 6.9.5 and see if that resolves your issues.

OS 6 doesn't have built-in support for connecting USB printers ( https://kb.netgear.com/7009/ReadyNAS-OS-6-USB-Port-use ).
Are you using an app for that, or are you really meaning only file storage.
An app. But i've now taken that off and seeing if it makes any difference.
