ReadyNAS 314 powering down on its own??
Hi all,
Sorry if this is not the right place to post my question, I'm hoping for some ReadyNAS expert advice. I've got a ReadyNAS 31400 with 4 x 3TB WD Red that shuts itself down for no apparent reason and with no errors given. And after it has shut down it will not restart using the power button - pulling the power lead and reinserting it starts it up for about 3 seconds then it dies again - no error message or beeps. I've tried booting with the disks removed - same problems. All suggestions for a solution would be much appreciated - or do I now have an expensive brick?
Thanks in advance.

At this point it always powers down at the 3 second mark?
If you purchased this new, then the warranty is 5 years - you are almost certainly covered. You can arrange for an RMA via my.netgear.com

HI Stephen,
I've had it 2 years and all has been OK until now - I got it second hand so no option for RMA unfortunately.
If it's been left standing for a while it stays up for a few minutes - so my thought was it might be going overtemp. I managed to grab a set of logs last time it stayed up long enough and I've scanned through to see if there's any overtemp messages - but I'm not sure which of the many text files I should be looking in, (any thoughts?).
Once it goes into this shutdown routine then start up gets as far as the "Welcome" message before it shuts down again.
Thanks

I'm not seeing the temps in my most recent log zip. But maybe look in system.log and kernel.log to start with.
It could be a failed power adapter, so you could do a risk-buy of a replacement.
