ReadyNAS 314 USB Ports....
I recently switched from a SynologyNAS to a ReadyNAS314. :)
My question: I connected a USB stick on the rear USB port.
How do I get access to external USB or eSATA port on the attached disks?
How can I add these disks to the network?
Next: Is the NAS314 as a USB print server used or what other devices can be connected to the external USB ports?
PS: Unfortunately, I could find absolutely nothing in this regard in the documentation from Netgear! (That's pretty weak not to document these important things in the instructions!)
Regards - Michael

- chirpaLuminaryWhat do you mean by 'access to external USB on the attached disks'? USB flash/disks should show up in the GUI to share. You can access them individually, but you cannot add them to the internal disk RAID array.
Just USB drives and USB UPS are supported.
There is no print server functionality on ReadyNAS OS6 that runs on the RN314. Previous versions had it, but they decided to leave it out of this latest release. - Thats a part of my problem. The USB flash/disks are NOT show up in the GUI and there is no USB Menue.?
- chirpaLuminaryDoes the LCD light up saying USB Disk Connected or similar? What about on the other ports?
- On the ReadyNAS 314 there are no LCD lightup to saying USB Disk connected. There are only LED´s for the 4-Drive Bays.
The Information-LCD on front of the NAS314 does say nothing about connecting the USB Disk. - chirpaLuminaryWhat model USB stick did you connect? Did you try the front USB port?
- Ok - Problem solved. The USB-3 stick ( Patriot Supersonic Magnum 64GB )was probably not compatible with the NAS USB-3 Port on the back.
Now I have another USB 2 stick used - and - the system says: Extern Memory connected and shows the USB-Drive.
All ok now - Thank you.
Best regards - Michael
PS: I have connected now the "Patriot Supersonic Magnum 64GB" USB-3 Stick on the Front-USB - and - it works.
All ok with my NAS - Top :D :D  - chirpaLuminary"One (1) USB 2.0, Two (2) USB 3.0"
You are connecting the USB3 flash to the slower USB2. It will work, but not to its full potential.
