ReadyNAS 3200 OS reinstall - does it affect shared permissions or iscsi volume connections?

I have a ReadyNAS 3200 that the previous IT person purchased for our company. They have no contact with this person and I need to get into the NAS to expand the volume. The big question I have is that if I do an OS reinstall, will I lose my iscsi drive I have set up?

Also, I am not too sure on the procedure in doing this.  The instructions here tell me how to initiate it. Does this set something up for me on the screen of the monitor attached to it? Do I have to use RAIDar to find it again and then configure?

Any help would be great. Thanks.

  • An OS reinstall changes the IP network configuration to use DHCP and the admin password back to the factory default value (netgear1 on old NAS, password on newer ones). The process completes quite quickly.

It shouldn't affect the rest of your configuration (including data generally and the iSCSI luns specifically). Of course if there's something failing with the system, and changes might make it worse.  Though that doesn't sound like your situation.
