Based on smallnetbuilder.com the read/write performance is what to be expected on 1 GB LAN
For the 626X:
10 GB LAN is 3-4x these....
I will upgrade once prices drop

I tested transcoding
- It can perfectly transcode HEVC 1080p videos to x264 at 1080p
- I tested a 30 Mbps HEVC 4K video and it could be transcoded to x264 at 1080p
Probably it will depend on audio embedded and on the bitrate of source
I am happy that it can manage HEVC and 4K transcode for reasonable 30 Mbps bitrates

Just tested on a 10Gb switch and seeing roughly 350MB/s to 400MB/s from my PC which is also on a 10Gb switch (the netgear prosafe XS708E)... I don't think 10Gb is really worth it unless you have many users hitting the NAS at once.... Sending back my 10Gb switch and going with 2 x 1Gbps bonded. Should be plenty enough for DLNA etc
