ReadyNAS 526 10GB Connectivity
Can an RN526x with 10GB ethernet be connected to a 1GB switch? I know the NAS would not operate to it's full potential. Is their a special cable involved?

Hi Jimbo1960 , going via copper a cat6 cable should be ok. From wikipedia: "For 10GBASE-T, an unshielded Cat 6 cable should not exceed 55 meters and a Cat 6A cable should not exceed 100 meters." More details here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category_6_cable
More details in general about cabling for 10GBASE-T (may it be fiber or copper) here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/10_Gigabit_Ethernet#Copper
However, regarding the speed you can expect between two workstations it will be the slowest component of the path, which limits the result. For example, if you have a GB switch or router between two 10GB workstations you will just get GB performance, though.
Kind regards

Yes, the NAS will just negotiate normal gigabit. Any gigabit cable will work in this mode.

Thanks for all the help. Sounds like I'm going to buy either the RN526X00 or RN528X00.
