I am wondering if the ultra perhaps upgraded itself to 4.1.22 at about the same time. You might check your logs to see if that happened.
The "MediaServer" stuff is using ReadyDLNA, and there are some issues that have been reported with that in with the newest firmware.
BTW, the WD Live doesn't have to use ReadyDLNA, it can also access the NAS using CIFS (similar to your mapped drive).
