ReadyNAS Duo - factory reset jammed?

Thanks for all the help and the issue is now resolved.
Just in case anyone else has the same problem this is what happened:
I ran the "factory reset" from Frontview and about 30 minutes later the NAS appeared to complete its reset cycle, going from making a lot of noise to being near silent.
RAIDAar then said the NAS was resynching and this took about 5 hours to complete for the 2x 1tb discs (a time and percentage estimate was indicated throughout).
During this process RAIDar showed a yellow light at the far left of the status, the volume light blinked green, as did the second disc light. All lights are now green.
When complete, I was able to log in to Frontview using the default password “netgear1” and user name “admin”.
I can now access the ReadyNAS through Finder and the discs do appear to have been successfully wiped.
The whole process took around 5.5 hours.
