ReadyNas Duo and Backup Exec

Hi all ,

we have a small 1tb Negear ReadyNas Duo

we were backing up to it fine using Backup Exec 11D , however we hadn't turned any security on on the Netgear.

Today i've been playing around with users and security on the shares set up on the ReadyNas and now can't seem to get it to work with Backup Exec

My Netgear is called FS03 , i've created a user in that called Andy , when I go to the share from Windows (on the server running backup exec) it prompts me to login , so i put in FS03\Andy and then the password , can get in ok create folders / delete etc.

i set up the same user FS03\Andy when prompted to in Backup exec , however when you get to the end of the "Back-to-Disk Folders" setup it says "Unable to create new backup folder. Access is denied".

Has anyone come across this before and got any advice ?

Any help would much appreciated as i've been getting no where fast and don't really want to turn the security off again

  • For creating a B2D folder and managing it, the Backup Exec Service Account would also need complete permissions on the B2D target location. "FS03\Andy" is a user on the NAS device. However, check in windows services on the Media Server and confirm that the account that is used to start Backup Exec services also has full permissions on the NAS.

You could run this tool from the Media Server to verify the configuration.
