ReadyNas Duo and Windows 7 Problem
I have just purchased a new laptop, windows 7 64bit. My previous laptop was running XP and everything was fine. I now have problems using the explorer on the shares on the NAS. I am able to see the top level of shares, eg media and my own private share, but I am unable to enter any folders. I have tried this over wireless and connected via ethernet. I have changed the MTU setting on the laptop to no effect. I have desktop XP machine wired to the NAS and everything is okay. Can anybody suggest the next thing for me to try.

- ewokNETGEAR ExpertWhat happens when you try to enter a folder? Are you connecting using the same NAS user account as you were previously?
- maf11AspirantAttempting to enter a folder for example media/pictures, the folders in the pictures are listed, eventually. Trying to enter a folder under pictures takes about 2 minutes then the pictures are listed.
Attempting to enter my private folder I get the following message after about 5 minutes; "An error occurred while reconnecting N: to \\nasher\xxxx Microsoft Windows Network: The local drive device name is already in use. This connection has not been restored."
Window my XP laptop, these folders are visible immediately. - ewokNETGEAR Expert

Do you have the same problem with non-media folders?maf1 wrote:

Sounds like something is already being connected as the N: drive. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredAlso what version of RAIDiator are you running on the NAS? The latest version is recommended.
- maf11AspirantI've being thinking about the changes that have occurred inthe past couple of days to enable my laptop to now access the folders on the NAS drive. There are two things, firstly, I have updated the firmware on my ReadyNAS to 4.1.8. I can't imagine that had the effect. The other thing, is that I have only had my laptop for three weeks and it can pre-installed with Mcafee Internet Security. I removed this a couple of days ago and replaced it with AVG and ZoneAlarm. Since then I have been able to access the NAS as expected. :D
