Windows 10 setup problems - ReadyNAS NV+
Hi
I recently got a new Windows 10 PC after my old one finally failed. I used to have the ReadyNAS plugged into my DrayTek Vigor 2820 ADSL Router and I could back up files from my old PC without a problem.
After plugging my new PC into the router I can’t open the shares. I have installed RAIDar 4.1.8 and I can see the device but it keeps dropping the connection. When I click on the Setup button it tries to open FrontView in a browser but it just times out with the following error:
This site can’t be reached
192.168.1.100 took too long to respond.
I did download RAIDiator 4.1.15 but I can’t install it due to not being able to open FrontView.
I can see the shares in Explorer but if I try to open them it crashes.
I don’t know if it’s something to do with IP Addressing as I find that a bit of a mystery.
My settings are as follows:
PC: Ethernet is set to obtain an IP address automatically.
Router: IP address 192.168.1.1
Subnet mask 255.255.255.0
Under LAN-General Setup the DHCP server configuration is: Start IP address 192.168.1.10 IP Pool counts 50 Gateway IP address 192.168.1.1
Should the Start IP address be lower and the IP pool counts higher?
I hope someone can help me with this.
Managed to sort it out. I decided to do an OS reinstall on the NAS and it's working fine now.
Thanks for your help.

Is your new PC in the same workgroup as the NAS ?
Check this on the PC using Control Panel.....System
And on the NAS using Raidar, Admin UI, Settings, SMB

Thanks for the reply.
I'm using RAIDar on my PC and it doesn't let me go into the Admin UI as it drops the connection. I assume that is the option which is under the Setup button on RAIDar.

This shouldn't have anything to do with dhcp settings (which look fine) - your NAS has a static IP address, correct?
Can you ping the NAS from the PC?

"used to have"? How is the ReadyNAS connected now?

Yes I can ping the NAS and it is on a static IP address.
Sorry, I didn't make it clear, it's still connected to the same port on the router.

Win10 should be able to reach the admin page with no problem (edge and chrome both connect to my NV+ running 4.1.15).
What firmware are you running on the NAS now?
