I have nv+, but the re-sync does cause a significant overhead (in my experience) performance wise. Do you have the stock memory in there or have you upgraded it? I could see the machine loosing connection with the network (ie not accessible via browser or raiDar, did you try to just let it run?
Also are you making use of jumbo frames? What is your ip acquisition strategy? (static,dhcp, dhcp reservation, etc)?
