Either it means that a router or switch between the PC and the NAS doesn't support jumbo frames, or that the PC happens to run slower when you use them. You can try to play with NIC card settings, or just leave them off.

You'll need to map a drive letter to use it.
Also, have you tried testing to/from the internal drive of the PC?
