ReadyNAS Duo v2 - Corrupted Root
Hello,
I've bought a ReadNAS Duo v2 und I'll use them with two Samsung HD103SJ HDD's (1 TB). In the HCL are these models not listed. RAIDar show me both HDD's with green dots and the device status with a blue dot at the left column. The Info-Column show me the failure message "corrupted root" (in german "Beschädigtes Stammverzeichnis").
Both HDD has worked in a PC before I installed them in my NAS-Device. Before installing I don't formatted them.
What is my problem and how can I solve it.
Greetings from Germany
Matze

- mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredWhen you do a factory default or install new disks into an empty unit the NAS will check for a firmware update and download it (if available) before proceeding to do the factory default. Depending on the speed of your internet connection this can take a while. Downloading the firmware update allows it to do a clean install of the latest firmware. Many units in the supply chain would still have older firmware such as 5.3.1 on them from the factory.
- PhilJG66AspirantI too have the "corrupted root" message.
As I cannot update the firmware through RAIDar, how do I do it.
I have downloaded the latest RAIDiator 5.3.5 (arm) to my PC.
Now what do I do - chirpaLuminaryPhil, you should be making a new thread on your issue, not tacking on here. Your symptoms may be the same, but cause could be different.
If your system is brand new, and has no data on it, you would need to trigger a Factory Default. That will erase old content on used disks (if y ou put in disks that you used on a PC before).
If you have content on your system, and have been using it for awhile, and only recently ran into this message, contact Technical Support so they can take a look at it. - s1m0n27AspirantWhen you done your factory restart did you do this on your duo v2
Jeep reset button on back pressed in and hold power button untill you see lights come on then release.
Press the backup button untill disk two is only blue light on , then press the reset switch on back again and the device will run and reset.
You will need too wait a few minutes for it to complete.
Took me a while to get mine sorted as I was looking at the wrong info for the factory reset.
