Could you try connecting to Remote remotely say at the house of a friend/relative? Need to eliminate the mobile broadband as the issue to try and help pinpoint the problem.
You can also create a new user by going to https://remote.readynas.com/index.jsp?pid=4
As for the old hostname still being displayed that's a known issue. Easily fixed via SSH.
