Thank you so much for your help on this. I've created a new account and accessed again via my mobile broadband connection and I can now access my has. Not sure if it was an account problem or me being thick and not waiting long enough. I will go with the latter.
Is there a way of accessing a web based version of remote so I can access my data without installing any client? For example, I used to have a store and would go to mystora.com, enter the has name, user id and password and I could access my data.
I checked the spec for the ReadyNAS Duo V2 on Netgears website and it states it has FTP/FTPS protocols, can access from any where on any device. Bit bad to use that as a selling point when it doesn't have ftp and you can't access from you iOS/Android devices.
