The TiVo DVR will only show you the files it can play natively. Try an MPEG2, or a file from the TiVo itself and see if they show up. If you want to be able to play MP4 or AVI that are not in a format the TiVo DVR can digest, you will need a trans-coding program and a computer powerful enough to run it. Two transcoding server options are TiVo Desktop and kmttg. You can also use a standalone trans-coder like handbrake and place the resulting files on the NAS for later transfer and playback.
