ReadyNAS Duo

Would really appreciate any help on this situation.

The Model No on the device shows Duo RND2120 v2 but that No is not recognised by Netgear. The RND 2120 is shown on a label stuck on to the plate between the Duo and the v2 that are printed on the main label. The Duo houses 2 x 1Tb drives. and I have not used the device for some time. I now need to derive data from the device and started by trying to download Raidar for Windows 10. Raidar fails to detect the Duo and I've seen advice on this forum re. re-installing the Duo's OS but to do that I need to clarify the confusion re the model no.

From netgear info, it seems RND2120 is a v1 device. However, perhaps the v2 is correct and the wrong stick-on label (RND2120) was applied.

How can I get definitive answer?

Thanks very much.

  • Netgear used "V2" in two different ways, which is a recurring problem in people properly identifying their NAS.  More than half the Duo's currently listed on eBay as a "Duo V2" are what is now called a V1.  If the part number ends in -100NAS, and from the description of your unit, yours probably does, it is a V1 in the language currently used.  The unit currently referred to as a "V2" is a completely new design with different firmware, not a minor board change like the original "V2".

RAIDar 4.3.8, available at ReadyNAS-Downloads works fine in Windows 10 and should find your NAS as long as it is functional.  If it doesn't, come on back and we'll see if we can help get it up and running again.
