ReadyNas not responding to ping or rsync from a single host
ReadyNas 2304 rackmount with 4x1TB
I was unable to reach the ReadyNas unit from a host by ping, ssh or rsync. Other hosts worked fine. No diagnostic messages. I wasn't getting a 'connection refused' message, or permission errors. Just no response. Checked IP addresses, connectivity with other hosts etc. All OK.
I suspected a routing issue. The ReadyNas is on two LANs. I decided to ssh into the ReadyNas. I ran route -n and saw a route table entry from my non-working host, which is on LAN1, to 192.168.1.1, which is the gateway on LAN2.
I rebooted the Nas and rechecked the routing table, but it didn't flush the entry. I manually deleted the route using route del. Success: The host started working.
Not sure how that entry got in there, guessing by route advertisement from another router.
Possibly something I did while modifying another router... If it happens again I will go looking but for now problem solved.
I am new with this particular unit, but I had been using a ReadyNas Duo for years without any issues. Originally started out here looking for an answer but wound up solving this on my own. I thought I would document my effort here in case someone else experiences a similar problem.
