ReadyNAS-NV (000DA2011431) dead
ReadyNAS-NV (000DA2011431) : My server died today (sniff) and its prolly the power supply as there is sign of life. I have another identical server without any disks that I've never used and I tried ...

Do you recall which firmware you we're running
Can you power down, remove your disks (label order) from the identical unit and put a scratch disk (must not be from your array) in it and see what firmware is on it. If it's another NV that you've never used then likely it has very old firmware on the flash and the firmware needs updating. Update the firmware to at least as new as what you were running on the dead unit, verify that the update is successful, power down, remove the scratch disk, then try moving the disks across again.
Your serial number is in the range for the Service Action. If we still have PSUs left in your region you should be able to get a replacement PSU.
A standard ATX PSU can be rewired to work.
Also you could move the disks across to a NV+ (v1).
Another option again would be to get e.g. a RN314 and follow the advice for Sparc ReadyNAS in ReadyNAS: Migrating disks from RAIDiator to OS 6

Firstly, THANK YOU for the response!
I don't have the firmware info but it was the latest that the website would let me download.
Where is the firmware located?
Would I be better off moving the power supply of my spare unit to the one that won't run?

Since your model/SN falls within the Service Action as notated by mdgm-ntgr, we can provide you (if we still have stock) a replacement PSU. I'd recommend just going with the PSU replacement instead of swapping your existing PSUs around (that way you don't end up with a dead weight NAS that can't even attempt to power on). If we don't have any PSU available, a support expert can work with you regarding your options.

I'd be very interested in that but I have very limited funds (living on Soc Security). Please look into that option for me.
I've been browsing on this site for similar problems and saw where someone was thinking it might be the battery in the machine. Do you think this is a possibility?
Thanks

The replacement PSU should be completly free, since your NAS is part of the service action. You need to contact Netgear support yourself (support.netgear.com). You could use email. Make sure you provide the NAS serial number - I'd also say that you are covered by the service action, since the serial number is between 000DA2010FFE and 000DA2016000.

You should see some signs of powering up even if the battery needs replacing. Replacing the battery is not easy ( http://www.readynas.com/download/documentation/support/RESET_TIMER.pdf ). You are entitled to the replacement PSU, so I'd start with that.

Sir:
I'd VERY MUCH like to pursue the replacement solution. Can you please guide in what I need to do?
Thank!

Hi Dale,
I see your Registration here on MyNETGEAR for this product. Can you confirm (yes/no) the address listed on your profile is the correct one to send the replacement to?
If so, I can process this for you.

I have just come across this post, as my NV+ has recently died. Its S/N is 000D-A201-53EA, so is in the range for the PSU service action as far as I can tell. Are you able to give me an email address I can contact support on to see if my region has a replacement PSU available, as I cannot track it down on support.netgear.com? Many thanks!

register the NAS at mynetgear.com and then create an on-line support case for it.
