Readynas NV+ Hardisk remove
Hi everybody,
I have a Readynas nv+ but recently i bought a Readynas Ultra 2 +
So i want to remove two disk from the readynas NV+ and insert in to Readynas Ultra 2 +
Is this possible and what is the best method to do it.
Thanks in advance,

Perhaps it's a really stupid question if so i am sorry :slap:

You can insert your old disks in the Ultra 2, but the Ultra will wipe them. So you will lose your data. You should check the HCL though, as Netgear will not provide full support if your old disks are not on the Ultra's HCL.Mr_Daroe wrote: Hi everybody,

Before removing any disks from the NV+ you should ensure your backup is up to date.
As StephenB mentioned the Ultra 2 needs to wipe the disks. The RAID format is different. - Mr_DaroeAspirantFirst of all Thanks For the fast reply..!! :D
I Have 4 Harddisk of Seagate Barracuda Green ST2000DL003 3,5"-harde schijf - 2 TB
I know that the Ultra is going to wipe them clean but thats no problem.
my problem is that i have let the Readynas NV+ run because people are working in shares of the NV+ and i want to
take out two disk's and then let it resync or something if thats possible and than put it in the Ultra 2 and it's compactible i think maybe i don't know for sure but i think so... :?
And then but my back-up on it and then use the Ultra with 2 HD and the Other to i leave it in the NV+ and take that one home and leave the other one in my office.
Is that cool or is it really a stupid thing to do i hope this helps you out with some information
Thanks in advance (again) :p  - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAre you using xraid? If so, you can remove 1 drive (losing RAID redundancy), but not two. The safest thing is to buy some more disks.

Yes sir i did what you said and i have pulled out one disk but now it won't resync :S it only keeps saying one volume died :s and i have put it in the readynas Ultra 2 + it works perfect
but only one problem everybody can access the Server and view the shares without logging in :? it's really strange and i don't know how to fix it maybe you know the solution...?
But the NV+ will work on only two HDD right i must just format all the HDD and then i can use the NV+ once more
Thank You - StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI said you could remove one if you were running xraid and you would lose redundancy. I didn't intend for you to understand that as instructions.
You said it is telling you that you lost one volume. How many volumes do you have? What kind of raid are you running? - Mr_DaroeAspirantHey I Run X Raid and i kind of knew that i can pull one Harddisk out but you just confirmed my assumptions
And i have 4 Harddisk in the NV+ i just wanted to know if i can pull out 2 Hardisk to put in my Ultra 2
But thanks man
