ReadyNas NV+ RND4000 Kernel Panic
Hi, I was wondering if you oculd help with my ReadyNAS NV+ RND4000 Basically, it's the kernel panic issue, however, when I remove one specific drive, it does boot up, and I can access the web ad...

Ok. So we have
- one disk which is apparently ok
- one disk which is on the edge of failure (~500 bad sectors)
- one disk which won't respond to smart requests
- one disk with unknown status (system won't boot with it inserted)
You need 3 working disks to retrieve all data - it's not clear to me whether you have that or not.
I do suggest testing the two last disks in my list with WDC's dashboard software. My guess is that the one that isn't responding to SMART will fail, but it would be useful to confirm. Odds of recovering data would be much higher is the one you removed turns out to be ok.

Okay, so I have taken out the disk that was at the edge of failure, inserted the removed disk, and the system is now loading, it is doing a FS check, and is currently at 94%, so hopefully with these 3 disks I may be able to retrieve my data?
So odd, because it was working just 2 days ago.
Once in, and assuming it does not do a kernel panic, I'll export all logs and maybe we can see what is the status of the other disk.
So, here is what I know so far in a table.....
| Serial | 24-01-22 | 25-01-22 | Reallocated_Sector_Ct | Reallocated_Event_Count | Current_Pending_Sector | Comment |
| WD-WCAZA6665747 | 4 | 4 | 8 | 7 | 486 | Edge of failure |
| WD-WCAZA6662505 | 3 | 3 | 0 | 0 | 0 | Okay |
| WD-WCAZA6666340 | 1 | out of box | no data | No Data | ||
| TBD | out of box | 1 | TBD | TBD |

Hopefully yes.
If you do see the data, you should immediately off-load it. WCAZA6665747 is definitely on borrowed time.

Okay, so now I'm online?

Yep, I have my data, moving it now - hope it doesn't fail.
Does this mean that WD-WCAZA6666340 is dead because of no SMART data?
...and THANK YOU SO MUCH
I actually ordered an extra drive to resolve this, hoping that putting it in would rebuild the array, I guess I don't need that now? Or should I add it to help with copying off the data?
Also, it says I am redundant, but I don't see how I can be with 3 disks in. The system won't work with just 2 will it?

Something definitely went wrong when the system tried to query the SMART data.
After you off-load the data, I recommend testing all the drives in a Windows PC with WD's dashboard (running the long generic test). You might need to purchase a usb adapter/dock (which are inexpensive).

No, it won't. Not sure why it thinks it's redundant.

You might, depending on how the disk tests come out.
