Is this a NV+ (v1 - silver chassis) or NV+ v2 (charcoal chassis)
You could use the boot menu: http://www.readynas.com/kb/faq/boot/how_do_i_use_the_boot_menu
You may wish to try an OS Re-install before resorting to doing a factory default. An OS Re-install leaves data intact whereas a factory default does not.
If you do do a factory default and the NAS is a v1 that is not running 4.1.7 or later, update the firmware to 4.1.8 or 4.1.10 beta and do another factory default.
