There are a few ways where you can transfer the files from your NV+ to RN524X but Ithink the best way provided that your NV+ is still running fine would be to create a RSYNC backup job. Here is an article about this setup.
Other ways would be to transfer to a USB drive that can accommodate most of your data and transfer it to your new NAS.

Thank you Mark_V, I am familiar with RSYNC as I use it regularly for offsite backup. It is slow, but has been reliable. Thank you for the article link, I somewhow missed it in my search, very helpful.
