ReadyNAS NV+ (SPARC) Migrate Data to ReadyNAS RN524X00
In June 2007 I purchased ReadyNAS NV+ (from Infrant) and it has been running non-stop for the last 11 years. Only powered down about twice a year for cleaning. It has been a reliable workhorse, nev...

Hi Mvone2
Welcome to the Community!
There are a few ways where you can transfer the files from your NV+ to RN524X but Ithink the best way provided that your NV+ is still running fine would be to create a RSYNC backup job. Here is an article about this setup.
Other ways would be to transfer to a USB drive that can accommodate most of your data and transfer it to your new NAS.
Hope this helps!

Marc_V,
If your still there... Or anyone else, all went well and very smooth using RSYNC as you recommended, thank you. How do I similarly transfer the user home shares? Would appear to be a different process.
Thank you,
Mark

How many users do you have roughly that use home shares?

Eight.

You could login as each user and manually copy the data across from the old home share to the new home share and then disable the home shares on the old NAS.

Thank you mdgm, that actually was my plan B absent someone here giving me a better way to do it.
On a complete side note… A little over 11 years ago when I first purchased and set this NV+ up I needed some help, so I posted my question on the Infrant ReadyNAS community support forum and it was you who gave me guidance. In fact, I ended up using your “Unofficial ReadyNAS Guides” often.
Seems quite fitting that it was you who helped me get this up and running and now, after this NV+ has run continually for 11 years without issues, it is you who helps me with the last piece before I take it out of service.
Thank you for all your years of helping us…
