ReadyNas NV+ to Mac via Airport Express via Arris
Hi, Time Warner cable recently sent me a new cable, modem, router. It's an Arris DG1670. It created a number of conflicts on my system as I had 3 Airport Express units configured to extend my wi-fi throughout the house.
Ultimately I turned the Arris to bridge mode to turn off the routing capabilities. I also turned off the wi-fi.
Now the first Airport Express is set up to deliver DHCP and the two other AEs downstream are on "bridge" mode.
That solved all my problems except re my ReadyNas. I did have to reboot my AEs and don't remember what I did in the past to allow them to work w my ReadyNas.
I have a ReadyNAS NV+.
I have a Mac Air.
The ReadyNas is connected to the first AE.
When I run Radar all lights are green but when I select SetUp or Locate nothing happens. The IP address says 10.0.1.100 but I can't access this through a browser. I tried 192.168.0.1 through 10 and couldn't find my ReadyNas that way either.
I assume I need to adjust the settings in the first airport express to open ports or something.
Can anyone help me? I use the ReadyNas primarily to backup my personal photos and every time I need to it feels like I spend 1-2 hours getting this to work again! Otherwise it's been very reliable.
Thanks.

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI think you probably had set up a static IP address on the ReadyNAS (and it was 10.0.1.100). Do you recall doing that?
You need to get it back into the same IP address range that your new router is using.
There are two ways to do that. One is to do an OS reinstall from the front panel. The procedure is on pages 23-24 here:http://www.downloads.netgear.com/files/GDC/RND2110/Duov1_NV+v1_HW_en_06Dec11.pdf
Afterwards, the admin password will be set to factory default ("netgear1"), and the IP address will be set back to "automatic".
The second way is to set your PC IP address temporarily to 10.0.1.101 (subnet mask of 255.255.255.0, gateway of 10.0.1.1). Then directly connect the PC ethernet to the NAS.
Then access https://10.0.1.100/admin and reset the IP configuration to automatic.
After you regain access, you should read through the router manual, and see if it supports a way to pre-assign the automatic address for the NAS. Most routers do, and it is a much better way to assign addresses. - jpickellAspirantAlmost there I hope.
I can't seem to get past the login for frontview.
Is user name "Admin" "admin" or my user name?
PW: netgear1
I tried password recovery and never received an email and am concerned I may have reset the password. - jpickellAspirantPS - OS reinstall had worked otherwise. I am back to where radiator works...
- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserAdmin account name is "admin" (no quotes). As I mentioned, the admin password is reset by the OS reinstall.
The default password for most NV+ v1 was "netgear1" (no quotes). For some of the very first units it was "infrant1"
Check this guide: http://www.rnasguide.com/2012/01/09/how ... -or-nv-v2/
If it says you have a v2, then the password would have been reset to "password". - jpickellAspirantTrying another reinstall of OS so that the netgear PW works again.
- jpickellAspirantThanks, I'm in. There's a few funky things going on w DHCP and DNS but I'll worry about these later. Thanks!
