ReadyNAS NV+ v1 - corrupt frontview screen not fixed by factory reset
Had my second power supply fail last week. Found another in the UK, installed, and was greeted with this screen... I first tried OS re-install, but no change. I'm followed that with fact...

I've got the page loading properly now, but I didn't pinpoint the issue. Somewhere in the following steps, it got corrected. Sry can't be more specific.
Summary of issues and tries:
Corrupt settings page above appeared in both Firefox (49.02) & iexplorer (11.0.96), prolly unrelated to power supply failure. It appeared correctly in Android devices on the same LAN.
This was NOT corrected by:
- Firefox in safe mode
- cleanup and reinstallation of java
- uninstallation of Kaspersky
- blockage of (notorious) Kaspersky javascript injection
- Reinstallation of ReadyNAS OS
- Factory reset of ReadyNAS
- Windows (Win7 x64) rebooted with unessential services disabled.
The setup page did appear normal in mobile device on same LAN (Firefox for Android), and was also normal in a newly created profile on the same desktop as above. I setup the ReadyNAS through the new windows profile and upgraded it to the latest firmware (4.1.15). This did not appear to correct the issue for the old profile. I then went through the process of migrating the old profile to the new which involved taking ownership of user file directories and copying them over. When that was complete, I reloaded Frontview in the new profile and it appeared corrupt again. After pulling out a few chunks of my hair, it occurred to me that the browser cache was copied over as well, so I cleared it and Frontview loaded correctly for the first time in this machine since the problem started.
The thing is, when I went back to the original profile, cleared the cache, and tried again - it loaded normally there as well. So though I thought I was being careful to clear the cache at every change, I may have missed it somewhere near the end. Either that or taking ownership of the user files via another profile corrected something - not likely, imho. Regardless, I don't know exactly what fixed it.
I'm copying files back to the NAS now as I type. Windows reports 19+ MBps transfer speed and task manager shows a nice smooth graph. I'm a happy camper.
This new power supply, unlike the 2 prior units, has it's own fan. While that might prolong it's life, I'm planning on upgrading this unit before the next failure and relegating it to a backup role.
My thanks to StephenB for helping out.

I've never installed Chrome as I don't want to be beholden to Google for everything, but I've thought of that as well.
I'm also thinking about creating a new Windows profile. Either of those options might tease out the issue.
If I knew html better, I could probably figure it out via the Firefox dev console & debugger - but, alas. I've looked at it, but I get lost pretty quickly.
Yeah, to find that Kaspersky script still running after uninstalling was a shocker. After I blocked it, it didn't show up in the console, but who knows what else might be there. I learned about the Kasp. script issue troubleshooting this NAS problem. A lot of people were upset about it and there's now an option to disable it in settings. But if it's still running after an uninstall...
I had another problem related to Kaspersky and a different app on my machine earlier this year where I did a complete Kasp. uninstall along with a tool to remove any remnants, before reinstalling the current version. So I'm pretty confident the Frontview problem isn't due to remnants at this point. But that script was still there... And the other problem persists - tho it disappeared when Kasp. was uninstalled. It's similar in that the browser interface won't load, but the external audio device that it serves works just fine. Both run a lot of java. Java's common to both browsers. Maybe I need to clean up the java mess that must be there after its umpteen upgrades. That's a new idea...
Thanks for listening. :)

It was very interesting reading this thread as I am suffering the same problem of corrupt frontview.
Somehow firmware 4.1.14 got corrupted and the ReadyNAS could be found by Raidar 4.3.8 and 6.2 but couldn't be accessed by either.
After OS reinstall back to 4.1.13, Raidar accessed the ReadyNAS but 'Setup' produced a corrupt screen in Firefox, Safari and IE.
I should like to upgrade the firmware to the latest version and was hoping this thread would supply a solution.
I can access and save files but would like to reinstate remote access, but without the 'Setup' facility am stuck

Hi Chy,
You need to determine if the problem lies with your pc or the readynas. To do this, try accessing Frontview via a different device. If it's still corrupt, that suggests it's the ReadyNAS. If it's okay, then it's in your pc as was my case. As I detailed above, the problem was corrected by creating a new profile in Windows - assuming that's your PC's OS.
If it's in the ReadyNAS, then you'll need to see the solutions offered by other threads. There's a situation where the root gets clogged with a giant file corrupting Frontview. This would be corrected by a factory reset, or also a more technical ssh-based approach.
Good luck!
