ReadyNas NV+ v2 - Corrupt root & ERR: Could not mount root..

Hi,

I'm attempting to install for the first time 4 x 3TB Seagate Drives in the ReadyNas NV+ v2 unit, and experiencing the following:

1) ReadyNas Unit is displaying "ERR: Could not mount root RAID d

2) RAIDr Software Status Screen - "Corrupt root"

Each of the hard drives were formatted within a PC as GPT, and Firmware upgraded, before I stuck them in the ReadyNas and switched on the Power.

I've had a quick look on the forums and have found suggestions around doing hard resets, etc. However I'm not able to get anything up on the menu when I press the reset button, or try to press Back Up, etc.

I'm not sure even the process around the 'Power' button, am i supposed to hold it down, as the unit is not switching off when I do so.

Please assist, I've run out of all ideas !!!!

Thanks

K

Try deleting all the partitions on the drives with Windows disk manager (returning them to an unformatted state).

Then put them into the NAS (powered down) and then power up.
  • Hi StephenB,

Just done what you suggested, no luck, still the same messages appearing !!!!
  • Btw, thought I'd try pulling out all the disks, but just leaving 1 to see what happens................. Still the same, so no idea what to do next.
  • Is it possible to try a different drive to rule out the possibility of incompatible drives?
  • Have you followed these steps exactly?
    To access the boot menu:
    1. Power off your unit.
    2. Using a straightened paper clip, press and hold the Reset button.
    3. Press the Power button to power on the unit.
    4. Continue to press the Reset button until the status display screen shows a boot menu message.
    5. Press the Backup button to scroll through boot mode options. The status display screen shows the current boot mode option.
    6. When the status display screen shows the boot mode you need, press and release Reset button to confirm your boot menu selection.
The system boots in the selected boot mode.

What happens when you do the steps above?
Where and when did you get the unit?
