ReadyNAS NV+ v2 drive 2 not detected
I have a unit that will not detect a drive in bay 2. On a currently configured x-raid it will detect the drive in bay 2 but if i put a new set of drives in all 4 bays and do a factory reset no disk is detected in bay 2. if i put the old drives back in the drive is detected in bay 2.
For troubleshooting I put the original 4 drives back in that were already configured for x-raid and did a factory reset, not it won't detect the drive in bay 2 from the original 4 drives that were detected and configured for x-raid.
I feel like something isn't getting reset or cleared on the factory reset, any ideas?
I would call support but this was a gift and registered under a family members email who is currently deployed at sea...

Try hooking the disks up to your PC, deleting the partitions off them, putting the disks back in the ReadyNAS and doing another factory reset.

I puirchased a "for parts or repair" Ultra4 that had a similar problem with 2 bays. On occasion, one of them would detect a drive, but other times not. Just rebooting it could make it go from detected to undetected. One bay never would detect a drive. That unit had obviusly been dropped, and the problem turned out to be the SATA backplane. I did not try to fix the backplane, I swapped one from an NVX. So, if it's not the drive itself, it could be the NAS. And if it is the NAS, your chances of a repair are probably poor.
Put one drive in Bay 1 and do a factory reset. Then power down, move the drive to bay 2, and re-start. If it won't boot and says "no drives", it's probably the backplane.
