ReadyNAS NV+ V2: Physical Drive vs. Logical Drive Numbering

The drive bays are equipped with wd30efrx (4 total, 3Tb each).

Error messages indicate that the disks in logical slots sdb1 and sdb3 have failed.

Do sdb numbers equate to physical slot location?

Does sdb0 = physical drive slot 1?
Does sdb1 = physical drive slot 2?

etc.

and...

are the physical drive slots numbered from left to right?

Many Thanks!

William

No.  The 0 and 1 are partitions on the same drive (sdb).  So only one drive is reported as failing in your system.

This would usually be the drive in the second slot - but "usually" isn't good enough. There should be a file in the log zip that will tell you what slot sdb is in.  I've never owned a v2, so am not sure of the filename,

The smart info will give you the serial number of each drive (so it should give you the serial for sdb).  You could therefore note that serial number, power down the NAS, and pull the drive that matches the serial.

You should then be able to power up - the NAS will report the array as degraded.
