I have just tried to install the first of 2 x WD10EFRX into my ReadyNAS NV+2 to replace an existing failing Seagate drive. It already has 2 x WD20EARX drives installed which have been working perfectly.
In replacing the first WD10EFRX with a "hot swap", the drive was detected and the start of rebuild was reported. After 2 days, it still hadn't completed and having removed the drive and checked on a Windows pc, the drive hadn't even been initialised. I successfully initialised the disk under Windows. I thought I would try the second of the 2 drives, and initialised that in Windows before intstalling into my NV+. Again, it was detected, and the start of rebuild notified. This has now been running for a day, and shows no sign of completion.
The difficulty is that in this version 5.3.7, there is no indication as to progress, unlike my Sparc based ReadyNAS Duo running 4.1.10 which reports an indication of status under the rebuilding process. I have therefore no idea on what is going on apart from the fact that the status is "Not Redundant" which is a statement of the obvious!!
I am presuming from the previous postings that these drives have been successfully installed into this model of ReadyNAS, and would have expected this as they are listed on Netgear's compatability list, and are advertised as "NASware" drives.
Please does anyone have any ideas on how to get these successfully installed? I have previously upgraded drives on two other Sparc based ReadyNAS Duo's using drives listed in the compatability list without any difficulties, and so therefore assume that there is nothing wrong with the procedure I am adopting.
Many thanks.
