I need to find some guides on using it to show specifics then...
There must be a place where the old style logs are kept since this is what you get when the logs are downloaded through frontview.

Some are still in /var/log. My guess is that the others are constructed on the fly (extracted via journalctl).

You could use e.g.
# journalctl -a --no-pager --lines 5000 _SYSTEMD_UNIT=readynasd.service

Do you know if there is any documentation on how to retrieve all relevant logs?
Are the original style logs stored anywhere? When you download them from the GUI you get them in the traditional format.
