ReadyNAS RND2000v2: I need to install this old NAS to get data off...

I am having difficulty getting the RAIDiator application installed since it looking for these old pre-requisite java programs which I am not having any luck finding to install.  I have no clue as to the firmware version installed.

I have this connected on my network and the router has provided an IP, but that's as far as I can get.  I d

Does anyone have any suggestions on how to get this ReadyNAS RND2000v2 up and running so I can get the data off of it.  I don't plan to continue using is as I have a new Synology NAS working, but love to get this old data off this old drive/unit.

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

If I can get the software installed, I assuming I should be able to mount the drive and be able to see it in Windows to access the data.

I don't mind paying a little for support if someone smarter than me can help me achieve this goal.

  • You do not need RAIDar at all, it's just an aid to see the status of the NAS and a link to the admin web page (https://ip.of.your.nas/admin) (using the real IP, of course)  BUT, your old NAS is limited to TLS V1.1, which has been removed by most browsers.  See StephenB's response in this thread to fix that:  Help-I-can-t-browse-the-webpage-of-my-ReadyNAS-Duo-V2 .

Note that if you really have a V2, then there is an add-on that can enable TLS 1.2 after you've gained access via TLS1.1.  But many think they have a V2 when they really have a V1 due to poor labeling by Netgear.  A real V2 says so on the front label.  If it just says V2 elsewhere, it's just a small hardware mod from the original Duo (which we call a V1 here, though it's not labeled that anywhere).

There is a way via SSH to change access on a V1 to simple HTTP (no S), avoiding the use of TLS.

No.  The only thing it would give you is the IP address of the NAS, which you already know.

We can help, but first let's confirm the model number.  The labeling is very confusing, and many folks with the original Duo think they have a v2.

    The original Duo

    • runs 4.1.x firmware
    • says "ReadyNAS Duo" on the front panel.

    The Duo v2

    • runs 5.3.x firmware
    • says "ReadyNAS Duo v2" on the front panel.

    Ignore any other labels.
