I wouldn't do anything else to it. It might not be possible to retrieve your data but the more you do the worse it may be. Contact support.
Sounds to me like you hit a limit...
Either the 8TB online expansion limit or the 16TB total volume limit (without a factory default) or both.
I'm not sure what happens when you try to go exceed these limits (if it lets you).
