1) Yes. Do this while the NAS is on. If a disk is failing replace that disk. Check the SMART+ stats under Status > Health.
2) Yes. assuming you are using X-RAID2 it would be automatic. You may need to reboot once or twice before expansion takes place.
Do make sure you are running RAIDiator 4.2.16 or later before installing a 3TB disk.
