There might be a battery for the clock (there is on some models anyway). But a dead battery wouldn't prevent booting - I think all that happens is that the initial clock setting is wrong.
Since the disks work in another unit, then the problem is not the related to them or the NAS configuration (since that is saved on the hard drives).
That leaves the power supply and the system electronics. If your other NAS is also an ultra-2, you could try swapping the power bricks. If the front panel cooperates, perhaps also try a memory test.
Contact support if you are within the 3 year warranty of course.
