ReadyNas Ultra 4 stuck on booting (though boot menu is working)
Out of the blue, my ReadyNAS Ultra 4 stopped working. Upon powering off and on again, it is stuck on booting. RAIDar can't find the device, and it does not respond to pings. I can reach the Boot M...
Eventually I used the Netgear USB recovery tool (see here for more: http://home.bott.ca/webserver/?p=166) and that finally did the trick.
It's getting even stranger: After running three successful memory tests (i.e. no errors) I tried again to factory reset the device (using just one hard drive). This time, after initiating the reset, the device started to boot but after a few seconds shut down and restarted. It showed the ReadyNAS welcome message and then started to boot again, but aborted booting after a few moments to shut down and restart again. The whole process was repeated five+ times before I shut it down for good, switched the hard drive and tried again. But the same thing (i.e. start of boot process with self-shutdown of devicve and restart shortly afterwards) happened with the new hard drive as well. I'm now running several additional memory tests, though I seriously doubt the issue is memory-related...

Ah, there must have been some corruption on the internal flash.
