Recamended order for maintenance: (Scrub, Defrag, Balance, Disk Test).
I read the suggested schedule for maintenance activities but did not see a recommended order. Some activities will affect the condition that other activities correct (eg; scrubbing may affect fragmentation). Is there a recommended order to maintenance activities?
Thanks in advance

1. Do I lose access to teh unit while it does a disk check.
No, though performance might drop a bit.

2. How long does a check take? I have 3 12TB disks installed.
I have 4x6TB disks (WD60EFRX) in my RN526x. The last disk check took 13 hours. It should scale linearly, so I'd expect your test to take about 20 hours.

I don't think it much matters, as you are cycling through them all anyway.
My schedule starts with scrub, then defrag, then balance, and ends with disk test. The cycle repeats every three months (scrub in month 1, defrag and balance in month 2, and disk test in month 3).

I followed that scheme as well with Scrub month 1, Balance month 2 and defrag month 3 then repeats with scrub on month 4...
What does the disk test do and should it be as often as the pther maintenence items?

I believe the disk test is the long generic SMART test. You could certainly run it less often if you like, it's really just a question of how concerned you are about getting early warnings on disk issues. The scrub also functions as a reasonable diag, since every sector in the data volume is accessed.
