Recover data from broken readynas
Hi all,
i have a readynas rnd4000V3, with 2 western digital drives. (looks like netgear doesn't know they made it since it not in there product listings..)
Looks like the thing is broken, PSU replacement doens't help.
I bought a new RN21200-100NES NETGEAR ReadyNAS 212, but when i placed the old drives in, it said it needed to format the file system before he could do something with it.
I also put the drives in an extension bay to recover them with knoppix, no luck either to view the files.
Is there something else I can do?

What you have is hardware revision three of a NV+ v1 (sparc-based platform).

You can't migrate the disks directly - the RN212 is very different (running OS6 and BTRFS).
You can try connecting disk 1 to a windows PC and then using rlinux for windows to get the data off ( http://www.r-tt.com/free_linux_recovery/ ), and then offload the data to other storage.

Either way you need to copy the data off, then restore it after you install them in the new ReadyNAS.
