top is good, as it will give you a updating list of processes that includes CPU and memory use for each.
q is the way to quit it
By default it sorts the list by CPU% . If you enter > while it is running, it will shift the sort to the next column (which is memory %) You want to look at both. Entering < shifts the sort back to the left to CPU
