Explicit FTP over TLS works, though it cannot be mandated by the ReadyNAS (which will accept normal FTP connections as well). Implicit FTP over TLS does not work, neither does SFTP. (This is with FileZilla, I haven't tried other FTP clients).

I did get it to work by using FTP instead, but is it possible to use secure FTP?
You can also use straight https through your browser (not setting up a web folder on the PC) - with or without webdav enabled. With sparc-based systems HTTPS won't list files > 2 GB - not an issue with pro or ultra.
