Remove the contents of the backup.... doesn't work on Duo v2
During incremental backup files are not removed for my backup (USB device).
All newly added or changed files/directories are correctly updated.
For testing purposes I've created a new directory and formatted my usb drive.
Every time I run the backup it completes successfully, but removed files from the source directory are not removed from the destination folder .
Files/directories are only removed if I set Schedule Full Backup: Every Time option.... which sucks....

- StephenBGuru - Experienced UserI don't own a V2, but on the V1 and X86 platforms if you use rsync there is an option to delete files in the target that are no longer on the source. Maybe you can check for that?
Though I am ok with the stale files being retained for a while, since it gives more protection against user error. Periodically I clean out them out. - przemek_chAspirantWell If You're talking about "Remove the contents of the backup destination before a full backup is performed. This option removes from the backup destination any files that were removed in the backup source.Warning: This option deletes all files and folders in the backup destination." option then its enabled on my nas.
I've got a 400gb photos collection so It would be impossible for me to clean them out manually after backup ;) - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredYou need to set a schedule for doing a full backup (perhaps once a week or once a month). Before the full backup is performed with that option checked the backup destination will be erased.
- AmidalaNETGEAR Employee RetiredI wonder that what is your version of Duo V2?
As you said, i tested on Duo V2, it could remove the contents of backup destination ,if you checked the options "Remove the contents of the backup destination before a full backup is performed."
By the way ,the FS of USB Flash is EXT3 and FAT32, both of them work normally. - przemek_chAspirantRAIDiator 5.3.5 (ARM)
FS of USB (WD MyBook 500GB) NTFS
I've assigned my test backup job to the backup button and also tried to run it directly via web GUI
mdgm why should I set schedule for doing full backup? I want to do incremental backup
So it seems that the option "Remove the contents of the backup destination..." doesn't work somehow for me using incremental backup.
Could someone test this in my scenario.
1. Create a new share and add some files
2. Create a new backup job for this using USB NTFS FS without schedule enabled and "Remove the contents of the backup destination." option enabled and Full backup: First time option selected
3. Perform backup - rear top usb port - using backup button or run it via gui
4. remove files from source directory
5. perform backup
6. check if the files were removed form the destination directory - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe option mentions that you need to do a full backup for deleted files to be removed. So only when a full backup runs would the deleted files be removed.
- przemek_chAspiranti thought that this would work for incremental backup too. I think that I misunderstood the concept of incremental backup...
But it would be nice to have such option for incremental backups...
OK so maybe there is some other way to do what I want without doing a full backup.
Is there a way to perform RSYNC between two shares (one share will be USB drive and the second one local share)? - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredThe Rsync deleted files option isn't available in the Dashboard at this time.

Hopefully they will add it! (It would be nice if the option was available for all incremental backup protocols, though I realize it is easiest to do with rsync).mdgm wrote: The Rsync deleted files option isn't available in the Dashboard at this time. - mdgm-ntgrNETGEAR Employee RetiredI'd like to see it added too. If you were to backup to/from a NAS that does have the feature e.g. a v1, or an x86 model (NVX/Ultra/Pro) you could configure and run the backup job on the NAS that does have the feature and use the option.
